Data Integrity Attacks – Watch out for the silent killer! Film at 11…

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Ok, pardon the melodrama in the title – I couldn’t resist (and there is film).

Several weeks ago, I was pleased to participate in a panel on “Data Integrity Attacks, The Silent Killer,” at the Infosecurity event at Earl’s Court in London. I’ve just been given access to the video from this event, and I wanted to share it with you.

Joining me on the panel were (from left to right, above – not counting the standing audience member):
  • Andrew Yeomans, Vice President, Commerzbank (but speaking in his capacity as a Jericho Forum Board Member);
  • Michael Warren, CTO, The London Metal Exchange;
  • Bob Tarzey, Analyst, Quocirca – and our esteemed Moderator;
  • Scott Borg, the US Cyber Security Consequences Unit;
  • Me – Dwayne Melancon, a VP at Tripwire, Inc.

This was a great panel, and the questions from the audience made it much more fun – the unscripted nature makes for a nice bit of adrenaline.

Enjoy!

Infosec Europe 2010 Update and iPad Winners

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Tripwire is entering the last day of Infosecurity Europe 2010 and has enjoyed a successful and informative time with everyone at Earls Court, London.  We plan to write a wrap-up post when it is all said and done, but for now you can follow what’s been happening on the Twitter stream at #Infosec10 and #Infosec.

The Tripwire staff at Infosec Europe this year has been manning our stand (E26) and giving  full demos of our products and answering questions. It’s not too late to stop by and see how we are changing the game in security by giving you visibility and intelligence into your data by combining your SIEM data and change data.

Of course our ever-popular “ball game” made its appearance at this year’s show and it was a big hit.  We announced the first winner in our iPad Giveway on Twitter but keep looking for your name there, we are giving one away every day at Infosec. Tuesday’s lucky winner was MJ Boxall from Wiltshire, UK.  Congratulations MJ!

The show’s not over, folks!  Look for an exciting interview from our own Cindy Valladares as well as highlights from the Hall of Fame and Keynote speeches. Want to see some photos? Go to our Flickr page and have a look. Of course you should also follow @TripwireInc on Twitter for the latest updates.

Win an iPad by Playing the Tripwire Security Smackdown at Infosec Europe 2010

Monday, April 26th, 2010

If you have been following us over at @TripwireInc or watching the content for the Infosec Europe conference at #Infosec10 you may have seen us mention this attraction we are calling the Security Smackdown. This is a game we have sitting in the middle of our booth at the 2010 Infosec Europe conference in London. I wanted to take a minute to give you the low down on how to play and what you win.

How to play

It is really simple in concept (not so easy in reality). You play against someone on the other side of the machine. Each of you stick your arm in one side of the box and the machine gets turned on. The object is to grab 5 of the white balls and put them in the tube on your side inside the box. The first one to do that wins.

What do you win?

Everyone that plays gets entered into the drawing for the day. If you win you get entered to win twice for the day. Each day the pool of possible winners starts over. So what do you win? What do you really want? I know I want one. EACH DAY we are giving away an APPLE iPAD. This is not just any old iPad. This is the 16gb WiFi. So come by every day and you can have a chance to win!

Each night we go and look at all of the people that were entered to win and a person is randomly selected using a random number generator. (Sorry – being specific for the technical people.) And we promise you will have a ton of fun!
