Tripwire Appoints Anthony M. Freed to Lead Information Security Community Engagement

Appointment Will Incite a Dynamic and Engaged Community of Information Security Professionals

Portland, Oregon – February 19, 2013 -- Tripwire, a leading global provider of IT security solutions, announced today that Anthony M. Freed has joined the company as its Community Engagement Coordinator. In his new role, Freed will seek to actively engage with the broader community of security professionals in an effort to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange regarding the latest infosec news and industry developments.

“I’m thrilled that Anthony is joining our Corporate Communications team,” said Cindy Valladares, Sr. Manager of Corporate Communications. “His tireless efforts to contribute to the sharing of information security knowledge will help to create an even more vibrant community.”

Previously, Freed was the managing editor of the online publication Infosec Island where he authored numerous feature articles and investigative reports as well as conducting interviews with a variety of subject matter experts. As an information security journalist and editor, Freed’s work was often sourced and cited by dozens of industry and mainstream media outlets.

"Adding Anthony to our team couldn't have happened at a better time.  More and more information security organizations are being stifled by an inability to 'connect security to the business,' because they can't demonstrate measurable, meaningful business value - and the problem is getting worse," said Dwayne Melançon, Tripwire's Chief Technology Officer.  "I've been focused on trying to drive meaningful conversations around this issue for quite some time now.  Anthony's unique background in social media, journalism, business and information security will be instrumental in engaging the broader infosec community in these discussions."

Mr. Freed will lead the editorial content development and news features on Tripwire’s The State of Security, as well as contribute to Tripwire’s social media outreach efforts on Twitter via @TripwireInc, at Tripwire’s company page on LinkedIn, and through Tripwire’s content on Slideshare, among other popular platforms.

“I had already been working with members of the Tripwire team for a few years on various projects, and I have always been impressed by their dedication to finding new and innovative ways to contribute to the information security community as a whole,” Freed said. “Together, I am confident that together we can offer even more value.”
