Tripwire in Process to Gain FIPS 140-2 Certification
Portland, OR - Mar 23, 2009 - Tripwire, Inc., which offers market leading configuration control solutions, today announced that Tripwire Enterprise is in process to achieve certification for FIPS 140-2 (Federal Processing Standards Publication) Validation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. and by the Communications Security Establishment in Canada (CSEC).
The FIPS 140-2 is the standard in information technology security accreditation program for cryptographic modules produced by private sector vendors who seek to have their products certified for use in government departments and regulated industries that collect, store, transfer, share and disseminate sensitive information. FIPS 140-2 validation is required by most government departments, including the Department of Defense, to protect the integrity of files that cross their network. It is also valued by companies in the healthcare, financial and manufacturing markets.
"Government certifications such as FIPS provide prospective buyers with the extra level of validation necessary to know they are getting a data protection solution that has been extensively tested and proven," said Dan Schoenbaum, COO, Products at Tripwire, Inc. "We remain committed to compliance with standards and regulations bodies to further establish Tripwire as the most trusted configuration audit and control solution provider in the industry."
