Tripwire Named One of Oregon's 100 Best Green Companies by Oregon Business Magazine
Portland, OR - Jun 5, 2009 - Tripwire®, the leader in configuration audit and control solutions, was honored this week as being among the "100 Best Green Companies" in Oregon. The rankings were based on a sustainability survey completed by more than 30,000 employees from nearly 400 companies. Employees were asked about the importance of sustainability to them as well as on their level of satisfaction with their company's green policies.
In mid-November, the company relocated to One Main Place, where its new space was outfitted with sustainable building materials. These include carpet tiles and flooring made of recycled materials, as well as recyclable desks, panels, and whiteboards. The new location also features numerous large windows, making use of more natural light and decreasing the company's dependence on artificial light. In addition to using greener building materials, an employee sustainability committee investigated ways the company's day-to-day operations could change in order to reduce the company's impact on the environment. Tripwire's employee cafeteria now features two ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerators and two dishwashers, as well as a soda fountain rather than a vending machine, discouraging uses of bottles and cans.
The company now purchases biodegradable soaps and detergents, and employees are able to compost leftover foods in the kitchen, rather than throw them away, earning Tripwire recognition from Portland's Office of Sustainable Development for reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. Tripwire has long subsidized transit passes for employees, and offers bike parking and showering facilities for bike commuters as well - and staying downtown, rather than moving to a less-central locale - was a key component of ensuring employees had multiple sustainable commuting options. More than half of Tripwire's Oregon employees are currently enrolled in the mass transit reimbursement program.
Tripwire has received several awards and industry recognition in recent months. The company has several times made the list of Oregon's "100 Best Places to Work," a reflection of Tripwire's 95 percent employee retention. In May, Tripwire was awarded the 2009 Software Company of the Year Award by TechAmerica Oregon. It was also named an Enterprise Management Associates All-Star in Change Management; an Inc. Magazine InnerCity 100 award winner; and included on the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies.
"This year, we've not only been honored with industry technology awards, but also with recognition from our employees," said Jim Johnson, President and CEO of Tripwire. "Our company makes every effort to achieve and maintain high standards, not only in our product line and customer services, but also in how we support our work environment. In fact, this award highlights how Tripwire's innovative culture allows us to continue to differentiate ourselves - within the Portland community as well as within a highly competitive market where we consistently outperform the competition."
Unlike the experience of other technology companies in the region, Tripwire has grown its employee base by 22 percent over the last year. The company has experienced a sustained growth of 27 percent year over year, more than 6,550 customers, $62 million in revenue, and $70.5 million in recorded bookings. This comes from its ability to proactively address market needs for IT security and compliance, coupled with a strong commitment to customer service.
