ORACLE 10g

Tripwire Oracle 10g policy settings fine-tune performance, saving IT operations time and effort

Oracle provides robust functionality and flexible mechanisms to secure data and optimize performance. There are numerous examples-logging an audit trail of data access, varying enabled encryption, and managing chance size to optimize hit rates. However, these and other settings are only effective if they are properly configured and enabled.

Tripwire Enterprise will compare the settings on every database in a data center to industry-proven, Oracle-recommended configurations and help get things up to speed, and stay there.

Sample Oracle 10g database policy tests include:

  • Control File Multiplexing-Ensures there are multiple copies (at least the recommended three) of the current control file on different drives.
  • Archive Log Mode-Checks to see if ARCHIVELOG MODE is enabled.
  • Default Permanent Tablespace-Ensures a database-level, default, permanent tablespace has been set.
  • Automatic Shared Memory Management-Ensures Automatic Memory Management is enabled on the database and managing the relevant sections of the System Global Area (SGA).
  • RMAN Backup Utilization-Verifies the Oracle supplied RMAN utility is properly set up and configured to perform backup, restore and recovery processes.
