Risk Mitigation Through Continuous Monitoring
Government security vulnerabilities are being exploited on a grand scale, and while agencies are familiar with cyber attacks - they are not fully prepared for the increased severity and sophistication of the attacks. Compound threats with large, distributed IT infrastructures with limited operational bandwidth, massive amounts of data, and multiple standards for assessing configurations and vulnerabilities and we can easily identify cyber attacks as an epidemic.
Steve Johnston, Lead Federal Systems Engineer for Tripwire, defines Continuous Monitoring as knowing the state of the infrastructure at any time and being able to react to threats based on risk allows organizations to move past the "compliance checkbox" and operate a strong security program. He also overviews the FISMA Risk Management Framework and provides practical direction for mapping capabilities of the Tripwire VIA suite into the framework.
In this webcast you'll learn how to implement the following four key continuous monitoring activities using Tripwire VIA:
- Categorize assets
- Determine acceptable risk threshold
- Determine frequency of monitoring
