RSA 2010: Chris Hoff on the state of data in a virtualized environment

by on March 4, 2010 David Spark

Mr. Cloud, aka @beaker on Twitter, and one hell of a smart and nice guy, Chris Hoff, Director of Cloud and Virtualization Solutions for Cisco Systems, chatted with me about the state of data in a virtualization space.

When I asked him the question of whether data is different in the virtualization space Hoff gave me a resounding “Yes and no.” Given the instability of the state of data, the focus of security in virtualization can shift to securing your information, your data, rather than extending all the effort securing the devices and networks that contain it.

Hoff’s one of the few people that has a greater and deeper understanding of how we need to treat computing in a virtualization and cloud environment. Make sure you watch. And make sure to read his blog, Rational Survivability.
