A survey of over 600 IT professionals reveals that the majority feel they do not have enough resources to adequately manage “information security, compliance and response” efforts.

Nearly half of all respondents in the study indicated that they spend twenty percent or less of their total IT budgets on security, and the majority plan to increase spending on training to increase security data visibility.

Nearly half of the respondents acknowledged that their organization had experienced attacks in the last two years that were difficult to detect, taking at least one week, and one-in-five said they do not have confidence they can even answer the question accurately.

Over the course of the next year, respondents indicated they plan to improve security monitoring with the following:

  • Security assessment data from endpoint, application and server monitoring tools
  • Monitoring and exception data pertaining to internal virtual and cloud environments
  • Access data from applications and access control systems
