Recently we had an opportunity to interview Phil Cracknell (@PCracknell on Twitter) during Infosecurity Europe. Infosec expert and ‘cynic’ Javvad Malik asks Mr. Cracknell, Global Security and Compliance Director at Yell Group, about the new role of the CISO and how that’s affecting how they balance their skills (technology and business skills). Check out this video to find out Phil Cracknel’s take on CISOs and how the role is morphing into the Chief Risk Officer.

More  coverage on this information security event including interviews on risk management, compliance, incident detection and the evolving role of the CISO can be found on this Infosecurity Europe playlist.

If you’re a hard-core risk analyst or if you’re interested in learning more about how to apply risk to your business, I recommend you take a look at The Society of Information Risk Analysts (SIRA). You can start by joining their free mailing list to debate (I mean, collaborate) with others on risk management.

What are you seeing in your organization? Are you seeing the rise of the CISO to be a strategic contributor to the business?

Hasta pronto,

@cindyv
