Give01Day, an initiative that enables security professionals to volunteer their time to help charities meet their cyber security needs, is partnering with IASME, an accrediting body of the Cyber Essentials scheme, to provide UK charities with free webinars that will help them stay safe online.

Beginning on February 15th, the two organizations will begin hosting a series of free webinars for charities based in the UK every two weeks. Each webinar will provide participants with an overview of the Cyber Essentials scheme and will instruct them about compliance and certification.

Amar Singh, founder of Give01Day and the Cyber Management Alliance, cannot wait for the webinar series to begin.

“We are really excited about helping certify UK charities to the Cyber Essentials baseline certification,” said Singh. “Given the increasing dependency on everything cyber, this certification and the accompanying awareness and education will help uplift the security posture of charities and help in protecting their sensitive personal data stores.”

Upon completion of the webinars, a limited number of organizations will be eligible for fully subsided Cyber Essentials certifications, which are partially funded by Tripwire, Badenock & Clark, Miller West Consulting, and others. Preferential rates for certification will be available once those subsidized certifications have been claimed.

Charities that have an annual turnover of less than £20 million per year will also receive free cyber liability insurance of up to £25,000 in the event of a security breach.

UK Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy Ed Vaizey believes this initiative is paving the way for other countries in their efforts to help private businesses bolster their cyber security.

“The UK is leading the way in cyber security, and we want to remain one of the most secure places to do business and operate online,” commented Vaizey. “Our Cyber Essentials scheme helps businesses and organisations of all sizes protect themselves and their valuable assets against online threats. Achieving Cyber Essentials certification will help ensure charities can operate safely online and continue the fantastic work they are doing across the country.”
